Yes you do need a prescription from your physician to receive out-patient physical therapy. However, some insurance plans do not require you to have a prescription from your physician in order for them to pay for physical therapy services. Our physical therapists are highly trained health care professionals and are well qualified to evaluate a patient's condition, assess his or her physical therapy needs and, if appropriate, safely and effectively treat the patient. Physical therapists recognize when it is appropriate to refer patients to other health care professionals for consultation if needed.
